Bredasdorp
Cyrtanthus guthriae
Amaryllidaceae
One of the rarest species of cyrtanthus, but also most spectacular. An insignificant looking plant when not in flower with just a few hair-like leaves but when it flowers I produces a huge single scarlet flower that faces the sky. It does well in a 20cm pot in well drained sand with some composted bark mixed in. It is pollinated by the table mountain beauty butterfly.
