Amatola Mountains
Cyrtanthus huttonii ‘purple bract’
Amaryllidaceae
This large species often occurs dramatic settings in wet areas like seeps on mountain slopes, along afro-montane streams and aside waterfalls on cliff faces. This form is easily recognisable by its purple flower bracts. The flowers are pollinated by sunbirds. They need the correct conditions to do well in cultivation, humus-rich well drained medium with regular drenches during summer.
