Haemanthus humilis is a very widely spread species, as well as very variable depending on habitat. Leaves can vary from 3cm in dwarf forms to 1m long in Giant forms. They do well in a well-drained medium of river sand and finely sifted bark and compost. This is a long lived plant and largest of all humilis forms, a true giant compared to the others. Its leaves can reach over 1m long and up to 30cm wide, pale pink flowers. The habitat photo taken by Cameron McMaster (who discovered it), unfortunately poor quality, but shows the size with a pair of sunglasses placed on the leaf. Used in traditional medicine to treat stomach complaints, wounds and asthma.
