Western Cape
Watsonia borbonica ‘white’
Iridaceae

Watsonia borbonica, or Cape Bugle Lily, is a spectacular perennial native to South Africa’s Western Cape. It forms clumps of upright, bright green, sword-shaped leaves, with tall flowering stems reaching up to 1.5m. In late spring to early summer, it displays striking spikes of large, fragrant, white tubular flowers, making it an ideal feature in sunny borders or large containers. Thriving in full sun with well-drained, compost-rich soil, it suits both winter and summer rainfall regions if not over-watered in summer. Watsonia borbonica is summer-dormant and moderately frost hardy.
