Shire Wild Bulbs and Nursery
Amaryllidaceae Brunsvigia

Brunsvigia

Also known as Tumbleweeds or Candelabra flowers, Brunsvigias are one of the most spectacular of all South African bulbs.  They have striking pink flowers on long pedicels, and the leaves are large and attractive. About 20 species in total, both winter and summer growing species require a very well-drained sandy medium, and if grown in a pot, with a good layer of well-decomposed compost at the bottom. Water with well-spaced intervals during their growing period (soil should dry out between watering), and keep dry during their dormant period. All species enjoy a lot of sun.
