Shire Wild Bulbs and Nursery
Hyacinthaceae Albuca

Albuca

Slime lilies are a large genus of about 70 species, although the genus is currently under revision and could prove to be a few more once the work is complete.  Albuca are hardy, drought resistant and easy to grow. The summer growing evergreen species enjoy some humus in the soil medium and light shade. Winter growing species enjoy a good dose of sun in a well-drained sandy soil and should not be overwatered. Most species do well in pots although larger species like A.nelsonii are more prolific in the garden.
